Alex (Patsy) Hargrave

Patsy Hargrave

Originally from El Paso, Texas,  Alex moved to the Northwest in 1993.  A colored pencil artist since 1970, she specialized in photo-realistic portraiture and landscapes.

Eight years ago, Alex found a new love--painting in vibrant colors on recycled and new glass with "Pebeo", a water based, non-toxic glass paint.

Alex works from her floating home studio at Jantzen Beach, Oregon.  Alex began selling her unique new and recycled hand-painted glass to the public at various art festivals and seasonal outdoor markets.

"Yardies" are colorful flowers made of hand-painted reused glass with reclaimed copper, iron, or steel stems.  The glass is drilled, cleaned, hand-painted with "Pebeo" paint, air-dried for 48 hours, then fired.

The metals are cleaned, cut, hammered, drilled, and attached to the glass.  Blooming Glass hand-painted stemware, pitchers, candy dishes, vases, wasp catchers, tables and bird feeders are produced in the same fashion, minus the metal components.

End Tables or Birdbaths  are stacked glass which are painted, fired, then glued together as a final step.

Each hand-painted piece is heirloom quality and therefore collectible. Your Blooming Glass piece needs only gentle hand-washing to preserve its beauty and clarity.

Blooming Glass can be viewed at various events and art festivals throughout Oregon and Washington and at the best coffee company on the Pirate Coffee Company Depoe Bay, OR. See Event Schedule.
